How I Curl My Hair

I know a lot of people who read blogs aren't always that keen on videos, but I did a little "how to" hair styling montage and thought I'd share it.

I do like making the odd video and I'm contemplating doing a few more? If you fancy subscribing to me or perving on some older videos you can stalk me here

Next Evening Wear

I was gutted to have to turn down an invite to preview the Next collection, the last one I attended really opened my eyes to the notion that Next isn't just for business folk (something I'm not proud of thinking!) , but instead has some high quality pieces that are perfect for 20 somethings like me that don't always want to flash too much flesh. I've posted some of my favourites below.

The dresses I've picked out are part of their evening wear range and are all perfect for that tricky middle region between pub drinks and a nightclub. I'm thinking cocktails with girlfriends or date night dresses? They're all elegant but pretty enough to feel feminine and I'm loving the sheer sleeves on the (FIRST OPTION), as it could be worn with tights and a blazer or cardigan as work wear but dressed up with a pair of heels and a bit o' fake tan for an evening!
The lace and studded dresses are proof that Next have really upped their game recently and are managing to stay current whilst still appealing to their market. The brushed lace dress is reminiscant of those lace dresses that have been doing the rounds for a while, but with added pleats and a longer length this can be worn without tights and still keep your modesty in tact! Same goes for the studded number I've chosen, the slightly capped sleeves will hide any upper arm wobble (for me, sad but true) but the on trend studs will distract the eye from that anyway so it's a win win dress situation really.
All of these dresses are available on the Next website, there's pictures of each of them them on a model as well so you can get an idea of the length. I definitely won't be harbouring any misconceptions of Next anymore, which is your favourite?

What's So Wrong With Black & Brown?

Jumper: h&m
Fakey Disco Pants: Ebay
Shoes: Primark
Bag: c/o Marc B

Thomas bought me the Marc B Olivia bag for christmas last year and I love it like a child, so obvs when I was asked if I wanted to feature one of their bags on here I said yes! I chose the Capesthorne style as I like the "preppyness" (that word makes me feel like AC Slater) and love the size, it's perfect for work but not so big that it'd look out of place in a supermarket. Hmm that makes me sound old, please exchange supermarket for a hip n' fashionable store.
I'm not too sure if all Marc B bags have a leopard print inside but both of mine do and I think it makes the smart style a little more, er.. fun? If a bag can be fun, if it was a human it'd be one of those wacky office professionals that shouts with glee: "You don't have to be mad to work here but it helps!"

Changing the subject but I'm getting really impatient with my hair, it's still damaged and won't seem to grow past the dreaded shoulder length slump it seems to be in at the moment. I know masks are a godsend for nourishing dry and wrecked tresses but I'm just too impatient, plus it's getting cold now and I don't like sitting around with damp hair for too long. Does anyone have any recommendations for a product that does something similar on a much quicker timescale?

And that's me done for today. I instagrammed some crumpets earlier. Follow me whydoncha? I go by the name of imeloweez

I'm Like the Leaning Tower of Pisa

Dress: c/o Lovestruck

Firstly a big SOZ for the weird discoloured pictures, I don't know what happened, some came out red, some came out green, and photoshop just wasn't my friend today. My bedroom is awful for lighting on a good day so I suppose it's my own fault for trying to take photos on a rainy Sunday. Fail. I'm also a bit leany, I don't have a peg leg - honest.
As always it's been a relaxing and lonely weekend for me, Thomas has been working an insane amount of hours at work so me and Theo have spend Saturday and the majority of today watching tv and drinking tea, oh so much tea. I've also whiled away a lot of time on rightmove, I don't even know why as I'm years away from saving anything near a house deposit but I'm longing for the day I can let myself into my own home on an evening and not have to live in fear of the estate agents. Speaking of which they've put my rent up AGAIN. Swines.
And finalllly I did a wee youtube video today, I'm going to leave it overnight to upload but it's just a little visual how-to on shoulder length curls. Curls which have now gone a bit messy and don't really go with an oversized knit...

But now me and my knitwear have a date with dee-dee-o-lee-ree and the x-factor, even though Emeli Sande is on it : / Why must she be everywhere?

Payday Wishlist - Dresses

This week all of these dresses have come from House of Fraser (or House o' Fraz as I sometimes call it, classy) and I'm pretty much in love with all of them.  I'm rather impressed with some of these prices too, for anyone looking to blow precisely £198.10 you could buy all of these dresses and fill your wardrobe with studs, animals, prints, and sequins. Wins. I don't even think I could pick a favourite, I'm hoping that at mid twenties I'm not too old for owls on a dress?
I don't know if anyone had noticed but I've been a bit absent on the blogging front/twitter for the past couple of weeks, I'm not really sure why because it's not even like I've been that busy, I've just not really been in the mindset to blog and when I tried to take outfit photos during the week it felt like a chore. This hasn't ever happened to me before so I thought it was best to have a little break, spend some time lolling on the sofa (as in sprawled, not chuckling) with Tom, and come back all sprightly and fresh(ish) as a daisy.
So that's it really, oh and has anyone else seen Magic Mike? I watched it last night and was a bit nonpulsed, the only thing I deducted from it was that every character repeated themselves a lot. "Chatty Cathy Chatty Cathy".

Almost forgot to disclose, this was a sponsored post!

Benefit They're Real! Mascara Review

Benefit makeup Benefit they're real They're real benefit mascara They're real mascara before and after
Benefit They're Real Mascara - Currently £16.82 at Lookfantastic!

I really wish I didn't like this mascara, even with the 10% off price it's the most expensive mascara I've ever owned but it's just so. darn. amazing. They're Real is said to lengthen, curl, volumise, lift, and seperate - from the photo above ('scuse my creepy grey eyes) you can see this is pretty true after just one coat!
I'm normally not one to rave about a plastic brush but this is great, the bristles on the end manage to grab those pesky corner lashes on the inner lid and can also be used to curl the outer lashes. It's a decent size but not too much to handle, and this brush is the only one I've ever used that doesn't make my lower lashes clump.
The formular has staying power but isn't a nightmare to get off, I applied this at 7:30am and it was still going strong at 7:30 in the evening! I've also found that it doesn't really smudge at all, I'm a major eyerubber when stressed at work and assumed that I'd come home to major zombie eyes - alas I was pleasantly surprised.
Overall I'd really recommend this to anyone who's looking to splash out on a pricier mascara for a special occasion, sadly for my purse I know I'm going to end up using this as part of my everyday routine.

Giveaway Winner!

So I did a giveaway with Blowfish Shoes to win a pair of boots or shoes of your choice and the winner is.....

Alice from An Alien World! Congrats Alice you've won a pair of the Kickback boots, I'll be e-mailing you shortly so keep your peepers peeled.

Shake Shake Shake Senora

This is going to be another photo heavy post so once again SOZ in advance, but a few people said they wouldn't mind having a peep at my honeymoon pictures so here are a few snaps from the 'moon in Cancun.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I had such an amazing time and drank more cocktails than I probably ever will again in my lifetime. I'd definitely recommend Cancun to anyone looking to go a bit further afield, although a ten hour flight on the way there with no inflight entertainment was a bit of a pain.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish: Soft and Gentle

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I've heard nothing but good things on millions of beauty blogs about Mac's mineralize skinfinishes, but I've always stayed away as my mind was thinking "£21.50.....for a highlighter?!" I'm all for a dewy glow but £21.50 just seemed a little extravagant to me when my Beat The Blues highlighter does the trick for a mere £5.25.
But I was wrong.
Mac's mineralize skinfinish in soft and gentle is like a little pot of heaven for my dull complexion, it is the zaz to my piz, the voom to my va va, and the errrr flourish to my flair? It is a pretty pot of baked champagne goodness that sits perfectly over any foundation to give a natural  and buildable glow. It's easily applied to the cheekbones with a blush brush but can be used on the brow bone or any other area you want to highlight, and I'd say it's pretty versatile for a number of different skin tones.
You probably can't tell in the over yellowy and over flashed photo above but when worn with a matte foundation soft and gentle really helps finish off the whole "flawless and polished" look which is perfect for a night out, and during the day I've been wearing it with Rimmel's wake me up foundation to eliminate the ijustgotoutofbed look.
I'd definitely recommend this to anyone suffering with lifeless looking skin as a result of the dull days setting in, and I'm looking forward to finding the right shade to replace my bronzer next.

Racing Stripes and a Fake Disco

cheaper disco pants zebra jumper
Jumper: c/o Missbehaver
Fake Disco Pants: Ebay
Leopard Slippers: Primark
Necklace: Newlook

My hand isn't superglued to my hip, honest.
Today has been a comfy day, and this jumper is the ultimate in comf. I really wasn't expecting it to be as soft as it is but was pleasantly surprised when unwrapping the lovely little parcel I was sent and I even rubbed it on my face a little bit. I realise that's a little bit odd and a while back I remember getting a lot of traffic from some creepy knitwear fetish site so I bet they'll all be rolling in vats of cotton wool imagining this now.... : /
So yes, I've wanted comfort as the day has included swapping over names at the bank, making new bank accounts, getting photo's developed, and eating a luke warm Gregs steak bake. And I did find time to pop into Primark to get some purple furry sequined slippers but this is hell on a Saturday. What is it about £12 sheer blouses that sends people into a frenzy? I could cope if it was just a case of being busy but it's not, people turn into animals! That alongside all the folk in the world that don't wash making an appearance in town today left me a bit grossed out so I trundled home and made a cup of tea....Oh god I have the social life of a pensioner.

I want to carry on writing but I'm not too sure how many people actually read the text that goes with an outfit post, especially as the highlight of my day has been the purchase of some slippers. With this in mind I'm beginning to feel like my life's at a bit of a standstill at the moment (promise I'm not gonna go all deep) and I want someone or something to throw me a big dollop of excitement, I know you're supposed to go out and make your own life happen but 1, I'm not too sure what it is I want, and 2. I'm a lazy Susan. I guess it's a simple case of post wedding/honeymoon blues that loadsa people told me about and no doubt next week I'll be bouncing off the walls after a glass of fizzy pop.

Hello Budget Bodycon

Photobucket Photobucket

Dress: h&m
Cringey Bra on show: Probably Primark

I don't usually post the kind of clothes I wear to go out out but at £7.99 this dress was such a bargain I couldn't not share it. To be honest the pictures don't really do it justice as they all look a little saggy but I urge you to go and try one on. Even if like me you're a little unsure of bodycon these are worth it "just in case" for the nights you want to look a little show.
I'm dabbling with the idea of wearing mine for a friend's birthday night out in a couple of weeks but my only issue is that we're going for a meal beforehand, and this dress doesn't seem like it's going to be very forgiving on the ol' food babies. Nor the vodka redbull babies that I'm no doubt going to be sporting!
Right I'm off to watch Hotel GB which is a prime example of how bad my reality tv addiction is getting, it's a little like that old show "The Salon" but with worse hair. Before you click away I urge you to watch this awesome Micky Flanagan video below which explains out out better than I ever could. Oh and don't forget to enter my giveaway!
